When a student Balpreet Kaur image was posted on Reddit and drew insults, answered quietly - and got deserved apology

This is a story of Reddit, race and take pictures of women without their consent. Surprisingly, it has a happy ending.

Earlier this week, an unidentified man surreptitiously took a picture of the Ohio State University student Balpreet Kaur and posted on Reddit, fun section, with the caption: "I'm not sure what to do with it. "Implicit in his words was the invitation Kaur gawp at all, because she is a woman with facial hair. Kaur, student of neuroscience and psychology, he did not know that his picture had taken until a friend mentioned it on Facebook, how they look, dress and turban were mocked on the Internet anonymously.

Well, who closed the "idiots" above. Instead, the thread has been flooded with positive feedback and many backslaps exchange support staff Kaur body image. Even more impressive, the man responsible for the publication of the image has a tail between the legs,-mea culpa. "I felt the need to apologize for Sikhs, Balpreet, and anyone who was offended when I posted the photo. This is just stupid. Taunting people is fun for some, but incredibly humiliating for people who mocked for. was something incredibly rude and ignorant to post review. "

And so began a new thread Reddit users praise the man for his apology. What have we learned here? The nuances of the Sikh religion are still lost in some that take photos of people without their consent is negligible and is not much better than good old excuses (except maybe not wrong, in the first place). Oh, and Balpreet Kaur is a little hero, frankly.
