We 've seen NFC technology pop up in everything from smart phones to windshields, but a company called Cirque has now been extended to desktops, as well as with its GlidePoint trackpad. Cirque 's system is relatively simple, consisting of its GlidePoint module (with an onboard antenna NFC) and a simple touch sensor. With these two elements into harmony, the user hovers a compatible card from it to scan through the module, while they run concurrently with the trackpad on the screen functions. The company has the same concept of the company's touch-panel glass used, as well, which could be integrated into payment terminals, or in tablet or touch-based smartphones. It remains unclear whether we 'll see this kind of technology will pop up on the commercial level, but for more details, check out the demo video after the break, followed by the full press release.
