This high street favourite offers a big innovation – bill paying. So is the Pizza Express app worth getting?

Word of Mouth: Food and drink apps tried and tested

App: PizzaExpress

By: PizzaExpress

Price: Free

Available at: iPhone

What is it?

An app to find your nearest PizzaExpress restaurant reserve a table, look at the menu, add your favorite outlets and even pay your bill.

Who is it by?

You have \ t you heard of PizzaExpress haven \? You 're the packed with hundreds of branches throughout the UK usually with happy families enjoying the pizza and dough balls.

What does it promise?

"The PizzaExpress PizzaExpress iPhone app makes your experience even easier and faster."

Is it easy to use?

All standard equipment (search and rescue favorite restaurants are looking for, menus) are easy to use, but it seems to be teething problems with the booking (which is itself a rhetorical question: Who books in PizzaExpress).

I've tried to book dinner for my wife and I said, our 14-month-old daughter at the Hove PizzaExpress on a Friday evening at 6.30pm, and the app to me, there were no available tables. But when we showed up there was plenty of room.

The big innovation - to pay for the food on the app - works wonderfully. Enter a code on your bill and printed the app takes you to a PayPal payment page, through which you cough up for your American hot or Leggere. 'Done s in less than a minute, if you have a good reception, which \ have won' it \ to t be true for any power outlet in the UK (although pizza express is rolling out free Wi-Fi to ensure in all restaurants smooth payment ).

I asked the manager if they welcomed the innovation and they said it was fantastic, especially at peak times, such as waiters, it freed itself and speeds up the process for customers at the end of the meal.

I was pleased to see promotional material for the application on each table, as it made me confident that it would work, but I was still left in the dark about what to do if I paid 'd. In the end I simply as a waiter, who quickly checked the till before he beats me up. It is definitely faster than expected to recognize a member of the staff are prepared to pay, find a credit card machine and put it on the table - but some clarity about how to exit a green light would be helpful. Some may miss the human interaction with the payment of your bill comes in the traditional manner.

Is it fun?

Maybe, but probably on the bill was paid technology - an innovation that could wear out quickly.

Is it beautiful?

The app brings the essence of the company 's art nouveau logo, and sprinkled it over, making an instantly recognizable theme that \ the chain's presence for decades, High Street has conditioned us to find pleasing.

If you download it?

Pizza Philes need look no further, and if you '\ re a regular at PizzaExpress restaurants, it is definitely worth a look, like the ability to pay on the app is fast and simple, and the other add-ons (menus, search functions, etc.) to work well. A great mistake, however, is that you need to download any offers / discount coupons from the site before it on the app, which seems crazy to use - and the booking process didn 't work for me. Three out of five seems fair.
