360/PS3/PC/Wii/3DS, £ 39.99, 16 + Certified, Black Box / EA
For years, Need For Speed ??is the game industry equivalent of Justin Bieber -. Incredibly popular, despite the apparent lack of merit beyond a huge marketing budget obscene
Electronic ArtsAfter finally gave the franchise to its best in the house developer of racing games arcade, the legendary, Guildford-based Criterion of Burnout fame. The result was last year's NFS: Hot Pursuit, perhaps the best race ever arcade
This year, the responsibility for the creation of four-wheel-based EA cash cow became a Canadian developer Black Box, creator of some of the old games (and poor) NFS. This time, however, has an unprecedented arsenal with which to raise their efforts.
For starters, the game was built on the freezing of two powerful engines that powers Battlefield 3. Black Box and was able to use bright Autolog criterion, which allows you to compete with your friends online and constantly generates new challenges.
first thing you notice is the effect of two freezing. Need For Speed:. The race seems absolutely beautiful - graphically, is probably the best racing game ever, with very realistic landscapes stretching into the distance and cars gloriously fresh and cut scenes
encouraging, Black Box also ordered a problem that has affected their previous NFS games. Cars Run on the handle as they should - that is, rapid, sensitive and tail happy, always ready to drift in the corners
The premise of a single player game is good, too. You play Jack Rourke, a number between monosyllabic Cannonball Run style race from San Francisco to New York with a price of $ 25 million awaiting the winner.
Odyssey
Jack is divided into nine innings, each is divided into stages. You are allowed five "reset" at each stage, which is activated when you have an accident or arrested by the police - or may cause to yourself, essentially commit suicide if you feel you will be able to achieve this goal on the scene without rewinding the last checkpoint.
never good to have to restart a game, Need For Speed:. The race will soon be adding many cases of bad game design
- can, for example, change the car (which is essential for the changes to the road surface as it does) to conduct the service stations on the side of the road. But you're so heavily penalized for doing so - to the extent that can make the difference between making or not their purpose - they quickly become reluctant to do so. And instead of remembering what vehicle would you rather drive, your engine is restored accepted if you miss your target.
- What is the point of having all sorts of exotic machines of the game if you discourage the use of it? And every time you are in a private car, inadequate, there is never a gas station in sight.
- system checkpoints can turn against you. - If you scratch through the first on stage and then delete, you can put in a position from which recovery is almost impossible
attempts to facilitate a process in place things like the sections on the history when you are caught by the police are breathtaking to behold, but boring to play.
All that is bad, because, technically, Need For Speed: The Run is very impressive. Not a bad game - those who bought during the years of the franchise will be quite satisfactory. But that's just not nearly as good as Hot Pursuit - now you can pick up for next to nothing
