freedom of speech row after reporter tried to reveal the identity of the man who runs forums with adult content extreme
Blog Gawker network was involved in a vicious exchange with users and content sharing website Reddit subforums recommendations sordid after a reporter began studying extreme adult content on the site.
A forum has banned political links Reddit moderator after Gawker describes as "an attack against the site and its users" in a conflict increasingly on freedom of expression over the life private publication of offensive material on the web.
The emphasis on the less salubrious Reddit content will be a shame for the owner of Condé Nast, publisher of Vanity Fair and Vogue, who bought the site in 2006.
Gawker reporter Adrian Chen began studying prolific Violentacrez Reddit user who has implemented hundreds of sub-forums where users post links and images, including bestiality, rape fantasy , pornography minors and upskirt pictures.
Violentacrez recently joined "Creepshots" a forum for stalking style photos of women taken without their consent. Forum was taken last night and is now prohibited.
The same user has posted the email exchange last week with Reddit Chen in a forum for advice, but apparently so concerned that their identity be revealed later deleted his account.
In response, the moderator, volunteer Reddit PoliticsMod Thursday issued a statement on Gawker behavior "intolerable," Chen characterizing research as an attack site users.
"We give our time on Reddit to make it a better place for users and should not be harassed and threatened by it. Everyone should be afraid of the threat to our personal information Research and disseminate around the internet, if someone does not agree with you. Reddit has a subreddit for everything, and as long as nobody can refute what another user subscribes to, which is never a reason to threaten them.
"Accordingly, the moderators of / r / politics have chosen not to allow network connections Gawker until measures are taken to remedy this serious breach of ethics and the integrity. "
The message sparked thousands of comments on the site and many many defenses by PoliticsMod, who said that Gawker has tried to disclose the identity of Reddit posters, affect safety.
- The Guardian asked Reddit to discuss and clarify its guidelines for the use of the content of the publication. It has removed previous sub-forums, including r / jailbait.
Jezebel reported that Creepshots including content by a teacher of a "big hot girl in one of my classes."
