Two men jailed for conducting cyber attacks, including an assault that online payments giant PayPal least cost 3.5 billion pounds

Two men have been jailed for attacks of cyber hacking group Anonymous, including an attack that online payments giant PayPal costs of at least ? 3.5 million.

Christopher Weatherhead, who used the pseudonym online "nerd" was sentenced to 18 months in prison Thursday for his part in distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks against PayPal, Visa and MasterCard in December 2010.

The 22 years of Northampton, was found guilty in December to coordinate the various cyber attacks by Anonymous.

Southwark Crown Court on Thursday also condemned Ashley Rhodes, 28 years and seven months in prison for his role in the so-called "hacktivist" group. Rhodes, of Camberwell, south London, laid her head on the back wall of the base that his sentence was pronounced by Judge Testar.

A third man, Peter Gibson, 24, was sentenced to six months in prison for his role in anonymous attacks.


The conviction of a fourth man, Jake Burchill, 18, was closed.
