consoles manufacturer expects to sell less than expected in the last quarterly update in October
Nintendo cut its sales forecast for the iconic devices such as the recently released U. Wii
The videographer Japanese games has said it expects to sell 4 million Wii us in the year, against a previous estimate of 5.5 m.
The figures were published in a quarterly financial update Yasuo Sakuma, portfolio manager at Bayview Asset Management, described as "a negative surprise."
The Wii U was released by Nintendo in November last attempt to stay ahead of the smartphones and tablets that have transformed the competitive landscape games since the first version of the Wii appeared in 2006.
The original Wii revolutionized the game, allowing users to play sports like golf and tennis simulated, making actual movements instead of pressing buttons.
Instead, the Wii U has been announced as a big change, despite the new features, such as the joystick which incorporates a touch screen, a camera and stereo speakers.
Nintendo has sold more than 3 meters away from us at the end of December Wii, including the crucial period of Christmas, but is now expected to 1m new sales from January to late March, when the year end.
sales of games for the Wii U devices now stands at 16 million euros for the year, not 24 million as expected, the creator of Super Mario and Pokemon games, said in the update.
